WebMaximal static respiratory pressures are a simple measure of respiratory muscle strength. In order to construct a set of equations describing normal values, we measured maximal inspiratory (P(Imax)) and expiratory (P(Emax)) pressures in 296 children (144 boys and 152 girls), aged 7-14 years, in sitting and standing positions.
