WebI'm reasonably certain that the former is not strictly necessary for the Photos app to operate (if needed for some features); I'm slightly less certain about the latter but that isn't precisely the thrust of the question. (photolibraryd I'm aware the app needs in order to run properly at all, and so I'm not touching it). The process isn't a one off, it might run dozens of times and it starts with a 2 hour delay, and it continuously restarts- maybe it does very small ...

WebNov 8, 2024 · The "circle with X" allows to Stop a selected process. open Photos.app - this should result in about 4 to 5 running processes detectable in Activity Monitor (filtered for "photo" in the Process Name). once these processes (including photoanalysisd and photolibraryd) have been started, quit Photos.app and leave the Mac alone over night.
